Music

Post-Modern: The Beatles The postmodern movement began in the 1960s, around the time The Beatles were formed. The Beatles were one of the most well known bands of the time, and their music is still widely known of today. The influence this band made on the world has had a ripple effect; the more popular songs from them is still played on the radio, streamed on Spotify, and known by the younger generations today. The technology used by The Beatles in their music fit into the category and movement of the time, structuring their music around the postmodernist sound while making it their own. For example, their hit "Twist and Shout" from the 1963 album Please Please Me defined the postmodern movement of incorporating the audience; "twisting" and "shouting" became the fad of the time. The use of a catchy, upbeat tune that was common in music of the day helped to create an overnight sensation. Disco: Donna Summer The disco movement beginning in the 1970s sta

Final Video Art Piece

https://youtu.be/-VYIQNNeXGc This is my video art piece. I had my friend film me at different places on campus, dressed in dark clothing. I also filmed static on the TV and the sink with the water running. I used Garage Band to make the static noise that are behind the clips of me standing. I was going for a more creepy vibe with this video; not entirely sure if I accomplished that but it's the thought that counts.

Performance Video

https://youtu.be/-h6ABOyV7hQ For this performance piece, I decided to go outside at night and "tan." I think the idea behind performance in general is to go outside your comfort zone and adapt to the uncomfortable. It might be awkward when other people are around and maybe are watching, which is what I was feeling, but after it's done you realize it wasn't too terrible and you stepped outside your comfort a little more than you thought you would. I drew inspiration from Leigh Bowery at Doffay, which includes women dressed in all body suits looking into the camera/maybe taking a nap. This is like my performance piece since I was not in typical clothing that one would wear to tan, just like how they were in abnormal clothing for sleeping. Also, technology was not a huge aspect of my performance piece or Leigh Bowery at Doffay; the only technology used for both was a camera to film, and I also included a speaker and my phone to play music. I had my friend film me for

Xerox Project

Image
For this project, I drew inspiration from Plant Park when I was there hammocking. I used my hand fingers overlapping each other for the grass, my arm in a couple of different positions for the palm tree, my hands for the leaves, and my fingers for the circle and the rays of the sun. This piece is inspired by the surrealist movement since it is out of the ordinary and I had to get creative to come up with an idea for this project.

Grid Project

Image
For my grid project, I had my mom take a picture of my pride flag from home and send it to me; to recreate it in a grid format, I got Skittles and M&M's and formed them in the sequence of colors of the pride flag, from red to purple. I was going to use thumb tacks originally, but I figured since the Skittles slogan is "taste the rainbow" I had to utilize using them.

Angel de Quinta's Stage Door Blog

Looking through Angel de Quinta's blog, there is an array of different musicals and Broadway performers that are highlighted. Growing up on Long Island, going to see a Broadway show became somewhat of a normal thing to me. My grandmother loved to take me to shows starting when I was younger, and even today I still go to shows whenever I can. One of my favorites, like a lot of people, is Wicked . Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzel are two of the most iconic performers of our generation; they play the two leads in Wicked and are shown on Quinta's blog singing for different roles. Broadway musicals are one of the most important forms of art in the pre and post modern world; the various forms a musical can take on, the stories it can tell, and the emotions it can display are essential to the word of art. The combination of singing, dancing, acting, etc is the staple to what talent truly is and is unlike any other.

21st Century Technology

The 21st century has already seen the development of several innovated technologies that have changed the world as we know it. From the development of the cell phone, to social media, to the internet, we are surrounded by inventions that make our daily lives run more efficiently. Self-driving cars are on the newer side on these technologies. With the development of self-driving cars, we step into an entirely new realm of possibility for transportation on a day to day basis.          The idea of self-driving cars, however futuristic it may sound, is not a new concept. The concept of the self-driving car first came about in 1925 when Francis Houdina drove a radio-controlled car through the streets of Manhattan without anyone at the steering wheel. The car was known to be able to start its engine, shift gears, and sound its horn on its own (10 Major Milestones in the History of Self-Driving Cars). For the entirety of the 20th century, the concept of a fully operational self-drivi
