For this project, I did the book The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. I started by going from the first page to around the 200 page mark, highlighting on some of the key points of the novel (bow and arrow, how Katniss is the "girl on fire"). I then went to the last page of the novel and started going backwards, drawing on the opposite page, also highlighting key points along the way (Katniss received packages throughout the games from Haymitch). I used a sharpie to draw the images so that it would be easier to see what is being shown.

Pierre Huyghe Video

Huyghe takes a different approach to creativity that is unlike one I have ever seen before. He challenges the mainstream art by creating pieces that tell a narrative themselves without any words having to be spoken. The goal for his art is to have those who view it engulf themselves in it and feel any emotion they can and want to feel. Huyghe's work is raw and non-fictional; he states that he has "no interest in building fiction," and wants to "set up a reality, produce a reality, and then, only then, document this reality." By using reality as the inspiration for his pieces, he can convey the emotions he wants his viewers to feel and send a message using his art. All of the work Huyghe produces seem to blend right into one another, with the end of one piece being the spark that lights the idea for the next piece. Xerox Project

For this project, I drew inspiration from Plant Park when I was there hammocking. I used my hand fingers overlapping each other for the grass, my arm in a couple of different positions for the palm tree, my hands for the leaves, and my fingers for the circle and the rays of the sun. This piece is inspired by the surrealist movement since it is out of the ordinary and I had to get creative to come up with an idea for this project.
